Martin has over 18 years of experience in energy management and is both a Chartered Engineer & Chartered Energy Manager. After completing a masters degree in mechanical & design engineering he began his career at Atkins in Leeds as a design engineer before moving to Honeywell to work on energy performance contract solutions for clients across both public and private sector.

In 2011 he moved client-side to Tesco where he became the lead energy manager for the UK estate responsible for energy efficiency and onsite generation assets. He returned to energy performance contracting with Anesco heading up a team delivering EPC solutions before a spell at Powerstar working on battery storage and voltage optimisation projects. He returned to Tesco in 2017 heading up the international estate strategy and capital delivery programme before taking on the Group Head of Energy role during the energy market price rise. Martin joined Mitie earlier this year as Head of Energy Optimisation leading a UK wide team of 40 energy managers.
